Mayweather vs. McGregor: Was it worth it!

One fine evening in June, a news got out that thrilled the fans of combat fighting; a date was announced for the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor Mcgregor. After wait of more than two months and a lot of trash talking it finally happened last night in Las Vegas. As it was expected, both men put up a great show and the bout was worthy of all the wait and the revenue it generated.
In contrast to his prediction, Mcgregor didn't fight recklessly or overly aggressive. Mayweather, on the other hand, fought with his typical 'let them come at you' approach. Unexpectedly, Mcgregor, who made his professional boxing debut last night, started things quite well. He landed some heavy punches on Mayweather in early rounds. He came at Mayweather from both sides, presented him with a decent challenge as it was also highlighted by Mayweather in his post match presser,
"He's a lot better than I thought he was. He used different angles. He was a tough competitor, but I was the better man tonight."
And yes, Mayweather was better last night. In early rounds, he allowed McGregor to take control but it was only because he knew that it'd slow him down eventually. For the first four rounds, McGregor showed offence but Mayweather defended quite well. At one point, Mayweather seemed to be the shadow of his previous-self but it proved to be a mere illusion. Came the 5th round and Mayweather turned the things around. Just when McGregor slowed down a bit, Mayweather accelerated himself. Midway round five, Mayweather came up with massive power punches out of nowhere and just like that McGregor was on the back foot. In 6th and 7th, McGregor tried to cool him down but Mayweather was all pumped up and threw some heavy right hands on McGrregor. 8th round was an epic display of tactic from Mayweather and from that point onward, McGregor couldn't settle himself. On the start of 10th McGregor seemed to had hurt Mayweather but it proved to be of very little trouble as Maywaether wrapped things up with a right and left hand combination. Fight ended with a Technical Knock Out and Mayweather, as always, emerged victorious.

Mcgregor was full of praise for his opponent in his post press conference,
"He's composed, he's not that fast, he's not that powerful, but boy is he composed in there."
Mayweather out-landed McGregor, 170 to 111 and landed 58 percent of his power shots. From rounds 6-10, Mayweather out-landed his opponent by a count of 130-60.  At the time of the stoppage, Mayweather led on all three judges' scorecards (87-83, 89-82, 89-81).
Many people were not expecting a competitive match as McGregor hadn't boxed before last night and he was up against arguably the greatest boxer of 21st Century. But the bout lived up to its hype, McGregor compelled Mayweather to fight and showed great technique and earned himself a lot of respect for his great display of competitiveness. Mayweather, on the other hand, cemented his legacy with another overwhelming display of tactics and in ring awareness. He changed his game plan several times during the game, specifically 'three times' as McGregor said in his press conference. Overall, it was a great fight and thankfully it didn't disappoint the fans.
